COVID-19 Update - Fitted face coverings
1 February 2021
Fitted face coverings (masks)
In view of the easing of some mandatory requirements to wear masks, the Commission has adopted the following policy:
1) You are not required to wear a mask where you are participating in proceedings before the Commission or a party to proceedings, this includes legal practitioners and self-represented litigants, and witness in hearings. However, there is no objection to you wearing a mask in Commission if you so wish, subject to any order or direction from the presiding Member.
2) You are not required to wear a mask when attending the Commission public registry. However, there is no objection to you wearing a mask, should you wish to do so.
3) You are required to wear a mask (except if one of the Public Health exemptions apply) if you are attending a hearing but have no direct interest, as outlined above, in the matter you are observing.
Signs on the entry to each Hearing Room and Meeting Room note the number of people permitted in each room. These limitations comply with the one person per 4 m2 principle and the 1.5 m spacing requirement.
There is a QR code at the entry to the Commission’s premises in Parramatta and Newcastle. The public, legal practitioners and other representatives of parties are required to “check-in”.
